Hopefully, it brings a smile to your face as it did mine!

On a personal note, please look at tattoos on paper and other people, but don't get one yourself. Duh, Dumb me. I got a tattoo on my calf and completely forgot that my immune system was compromised and it literally took 6 months and a lot of babysitting to keep it from getting infected, to heal. Please learn from my mistake or stupidity.
I love the tattoo pics but you bring up a critical issue...immunosuppressed people (those taking most of the DMARDS for RA) should avoid getting a tattoo. I got a bee sting this summer and it took 4-5 weeks for it to stop bothering me!
Related to this, my nurse told me to avoid the first round of swine flu vaccines because they are nasal mist containing a live virus.

I haven't been able to wear earrings for that last several years due to burning, itching infection that starts as soon as I put them in. I have found though if you want to wear them for that special event you're going to, that if you put a small amount of neosporin on the stem/hook & the backing that I can wear them for a few hours. I take them out as soon as I get home & this seems to do the trick with little irratation. Dont get over confident & leave them in over night thou ... you'll be sorry.
it all depends on the person's RA. I had very quick on set (symptoms started & w/in 3mo I couldn't get up out of bed at age 23) & I've been unable to go off of pred even w/ mtx & simponi. I'd think that'd mean my immune system is more stubborn but I've gotten both of my tattoo's since i've been diagnosed & treated. right now I have a bigger one that's healing from getting just the color done, but when i had the lines & shading done, it took the recommended 2wks to heal. it depends on the area you get it in, if its easy to keep clean or likely to get infected. in regards to earrings/piercings if you use the Satin soap that's anti microbial, it'll keep it from getting infected & help heal it properly (vs neosporin or alcohol like my mother would use, that just dries it out & forces scabbing). i've been using the Satin on my tattoo too when i was told to wash it regularly. i think that has been a big help. you can google it & buy it online or at a piercing shop, that's how i came across it in the first place.
I'm very sorry that you had this reaction. I have 6 tattoos, several large ones, and a SEVERE early onset form of RA. I've NEVER had a healing issue. I use the same artist and they ALWAYS score 100 on their health inspections. It's just something I'm meticulous about. Good luck to everyone else that chooses to get ink....I LOVE tattoos and always have a list of more to get. I will be 40 in a few months and don't see my love of them changing.

hhahahaha, I love 'em. Hey I'm 66 years old and have 3 of them. 2 are pretty new also. Now I'll have to think about one of these, probably the "sucks". LOL, love it.
