Express yourself with an RA tattoo

I across a couple of (comical) tattoos that express our fight with RA.
Hopefully, it brings a smile to your face as it did mine!

Happy First Anniversary

Here it is, my first anniversary of my official RA diagnosis. I keep checking with my front office here at work, to see if I got flowers, or a card, or even the traditional paper gift. Nothing. Guess no one remembered this day, but me.

A year ago today, I was shellshocked to the get the DX. I really shouldn't have been, because I had diagnosed my own illness (with the help...

Great way to express ourselves...RA speaking..

While surfing the internet this morning, I came across a website that sells humorous Tshirts, and they had a section about 'health'...and I came across this one.. It made me laugh, because it says so much without you having to say a word!!
there were more, but I can't seem to post them on this post, so I'll post it separately..
enjoy! ~Desiree

I heard something on the Radio...

This morning I was listening to my favorite (country) radio show with my 2 favorite DJ's in the world (here in the Phoenix Metro area). They have befriended Deborah Norville (from Entertainment Tonite) and she calls in at least once a week to 'check in' with them. They were discussing an upcoming show about a 5 yr child that has a rare disease that brings on early onset Alzheimers (in a 5 yr old!). Anyway, she got to...

RA and a broken arm

Well, my worst fears came to fruition a couple days ago. I tripped over a doggy gate on the side of my house (trying to hike my leg over the top instead of opening it) and *BAM* I fell on all fours! Now, aside from trying to figure out how to get up with all my limbs hurting, I was briefly concerned that something was broken. I moved everything and no bones were protruding anywhere. Always a good sign. I managed to get up...

I'm riding more! Did we hit the right combo??

well, it's been a month since I started on Prednisone (5 mg/ once a day) and it's been 2 months since I've been on Plaquenil (750 mgs/twice a day). I almost feel normal! Was I lucky enough that my rheumy got the combo right? I sure feel like it. I'm not completely pain free, but the pain I do have sure makes RA managable and tolerable.
I ride a motorcycle, and since getting RA, my riding days had been limited mostly because my...

ANOTHER SIMPLE TASK IS NOT SO SIMPLE ANYMORE

I'm sitting here at work, working of course , and i'm having to staple some stuff together so i can do some minor filing. Now for the past few weeks, I've noticed that whenever I staple my stuff together , the staples get all bent up and never penetrate the 8 pages that I used to be able to staple a fews months back. Then it dawns on me. I CAN'T EVEN STAPLE PAPERS TOGETHER. What used to be a simple task is no...

Sleeping better

I'm sleeping better these days. I haven't had a sound night's sleep since June (when I started experiencing pain). Last week my knees were sooo achy that they'd keep me awake at night, along with everything else hurting. I had my 3rd rheumy appt this past Friday and mentioned that I wasn't sleeping well. My meds were changed from Relefen to Prednisone 5mg/once a day, and remaining on Plaquenil. I was a little...

COULD HE BE COMING AROUND??

If you've read some of my previous postings, aside from the general complaints of RA, I'm been frustrated with the 'indifference' my husband has shown since I was diagnosed. Brace yourself....I think he's coming around! yahooooo!! He's been more 'patient' with me and does things for me with out complaining. The most remarkable thing he's done is making sure I'm covered at night. One night, I just happened to be awake...

article on azcentral.com about arthritis drugs

WASHINGTON - The Food and Drug Administration is ordering stronger warnings on four medications used to treat rheumatoid arthritis.
The drugs - Humira, Cimzia, Enbrel and Remicade - work by suppressing the immune system, and the FDA says that can expose some patients to serious, even fatal, fungal infections. The agency said Thursday it has received 240 reports of one such type of infection, called histoplasmosis. In at least 21 of the cases,...
