Born and raised in KY, lived in Michigan 6 long, cold winter months, 10 years in CA, now in AL. I've been a nurse aide in a hospital and a nursing home, I've run a stamping machine and a conveyor in a shoe factory, I've be a chicken packer in a fried chicken emporium, I've been a records analysis clerk for Social Security, I've been a shipping clerk for the American Cancer Society, I walked a paper route for 7 years, I volunteered in a library 3 days a week for 2 years, I was a convenience store clerk for almost 3 years, I was a car wash service technician for 3 years, a general aircraft electrical worker for 1 1/2 years, a general aircraft mechanic for 6 years, and an employee involvement facilitator for a little over a year, laid off for 2 months once, 3 months a second time, and now I am a customer care rep in a call center. I tried filing for disability while I was a mechanic because I could no longer do the lifting or use half the tools, and was denied because there were still positions open for cashiers, which was a job I'd had in the previous 15 years. Let them stand on their feet for 7 hours when they have RA.
