Dr. Borigini:
I am so glad I came across this website today, it's a wealth of information and I can't wait to read through more of it!
I wasn't quite sure as to where this post should go, but I've definetly been looking to ask healthcare professionals, including my own Rheumatologist, their opinion of the matter.
I am looking into starting a second career by going into medical school. I was diagnosed w/ RA at 22 and I am now 27. I have no stiffness whatsoever, only the occasion aches and pains associated with the weather. My only major problem is this ongoing swelling in my knuckles and wrists, in which I am on methotrexate for.
My question is, how do you advise patients who work in the healthcare profession or are thinking about the healthcare profession to consider when they have RA? I am interested in anatomical/clincial pathology and I know the journey will be tough. But do you advise them to reconsider their career path? Do you advise patients of ways to limit injury.
What's your take on folks with RA in healthcare.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Steph
