IS THE LOWLY TABLET IN FOR A COMEBACK FOR RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS? It was interesting to read that in August, Pipex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. acquired an oral, once-daily medication which company officials hope will be an effective treatment for rheumatoid arthritis.   Actually, this is more than in...

It IS very exciting. I keep reminding myself of all the wonderful advances in modern medicine. I feel we are living in a unique point in history when it comes to this disease and I can't wait to see what happens next! Really. Can't wait. God I hope they all hurry.... Oh, and if I ever get a dog I think I'm going to name it Synthetic Peptide.

My rheumy put me on remicade, after four doses, my left hand began to get those bumps, I forget the name.  Remicade did that.  It was poison to me and put me into a three month flare.  Took my last summer in my thirties.  I have had this for decades but the diagnosis always change.  It truly began with inflammatory bowel, I had it for years and my primary docs, who always wanted to be specialists too, thought it was no big deal. Big deal for me as I looked pregnant for years because of a distended stomach.  The bacteria infaltrated my joints and now I am supposed to start oracia but it was cancelled because I got hundreds of bruises from laying in bed.  Fifty alone on my thighs, and they were on my arms, ribs, lower legs, back, ad infinitum.

I take so many drugs and my mind is blurry.  I'm a thinker with a philosophy degree.  My left hand is shot and from what they say, it won't get better.  This happened after Remicade.  Infusions scare me.

Pill?  When?  How?  Methotrexate messed me up too and had to stop it.  Bruising again.

Doc, shed some light on this. I'm a newbie with the RA diagnosis, although I've been seriously ill my whole life. Multiple connective tissue disease. Most docs don't want to even deal with me.  Help.

    Warm Regards,

    Kelley

It sounds wonderful Doctor. Will insurance have a fit? These drugs cost so much a normal person can't afford them without good insurance. I am on Medicare and they won't pay for simple natural thyroid and enough Imitrex but for a few days a month. I also have chronic daily headaches that turn into migraines if not caught early with Imitrex. Got them when I was on Methotrexate as a side effect that never went away after 12 years. Let us know more and what side effects have been reported. Have had RA since I was 20 and am 66 now. It hurts!

    Thanks, Bon

Adeona Pharmacuticals is a publicly traded company on the NYSE with the ticker of AEN.  It sells for .78 cents per share right now.  They are the ones with this new drug.  If this drug goes to market which it looks very promising, I would like to be in on this.  My niece has RA, this is really break thru oral medications.  I don't know why the big drug companies aren't trying to buy out Adeona Pharmacuticals, otherwise someday this drug is going to re-program the immune system.  Even after patients stopped taking it, the inflammatory response from the immune system seemed normal.  If this can re-program the immune system not to attack it's host's body, hello THIS IS BIG, WE ARE TALKING CURATIVE to the real heart of the problem with RA.
