I just returned from the American College of Rheumatology Annual Scientific Meeting in San Francisco. And while there is no doubt I will miss the City, there is also a fairly equal certainty that the future of rheumatoid arthritis treatment was well-addressed. It appears that the next major advance...

I'm very interested in the new medicines and very happy to hear about "no messy injections".  I have been a user of Enbrel for over 4 years however my husband was in a car accident and I no longer have insurance to pay for the expensive injections so I hope the new medicines will not be as costly.   Thank you!   Kim Stuckslager

Even though I haven't started using biologics.  My doctor wants me to start.  He was concerned that since I didn't have insurance I couldn't get it.  I told him that most pharmaceutical companies have a special program for those who have no insurance to get them the medications for free.

The rep for Humira was coming in this afternoon and he was going to talk to him about it.  I'm supposed to call on Friday and find out the status.

Those of you w/o insurance, you may qualify for free meds.  Go to www.pparx.org and fill out the form.  Then take it to your doctor to sign.  You will also have to have your 1040 to go with it.  But you could get your medications back again.

I was encouraged to read your recent update on the future of RA treatment. I am just getting ready to begin treating my RA with a biologic (probably Enbral) and was especially interested in your article. I take hope from this news and pray we are close to having wide access to the new drugs...a pill beats a shot every time.

Keep us all posted on the progress in this area.

    Thank you...

Thanks, always interested in new info on RA. My doctor wants me on injections but I refuse. I'll stay on my pills and Cod liver oil (orange flavor try it.)

I see it's been a year since this article was written so I was wondering if there has been any progress with these new medications?  I'm particularly interseted in the one that promoted remission in 1/2 of those that took it...wouldn't that be wonderful!
