Thanksgiving

By pat Wednesday, November 23, 2011

One of the things I will be grateful for this Thanksgiving Day is this site and all of you.  From my heart I ask that  God bless all of you and help you feel better, help your friends and family understand what we are going thru, and may He teach all our doctors to listen and treat with care.

Well, now that the mush is out of the way.....now the complaining.  Laughing

Just kidding.....though I did want to state that  today, after my right shoulder has been hurting so bad for a bit of time, I saw the ortho and he says I have a rotator cuff tear!  Of course, I argued with him, I told him I did not have an injury, that it was just arthritis (lol).....he assured me that it was not arthritis, it is a degenerative tear.  He has assigned PT, so I start that early December.  He injected the shoulder with that beloved drug cortisone.  He did not think we would have to worry about surgery.

I did not ask him though if this is part of the RA.....have any of you had this?

Enough complaining, so I wish you all, again, a most happy Thanksgiving Day!  Stay safe.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Pat!  I have had impingement something or other in my right shoulder and it was one of the most painful things I have ever had to endure.  Ugh  Double Ugh

I had steroid shots and did the PT thing, too.  And muscle relaxants, and anti-inflamamtory meds, etc.  This happened to me a few years before my RA Dx. So...is it part of RA.  I don't know, but I wouldn't doubt it.  My RD says that the bursitis in my shoulders and hips is RA related...so...???

Blessings,

V

thanks, sweetie! I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

I haven't experienced this myself (knock wood), but no of several who have. RA affects not just joints, but also tendons and ligaments, so that me be related. As well, in my experience having RA means you often use your body differently and that may put more strain on certain structures in the body. I have a perpetual injury in my shoulders, especially my right shoulder and know exactly what you mean about the "beloved drug cortisone." When you do get physical therapy, you may want to talk to them about ultrasound. My injury/perpetual  was so bad that I was considering having to quit my job and then as a last-ditch effort tried ultrasound. It was like a miracle. The intense pain that had limited me so much mostly disappeared. I still have a bit of a problem with the shoulder and have to be careful, but it's not like it was.

Good luck! Please let us know how it goes?
