RA Doctors scare me

By Jeannie 1966 Sunday, June 22, 2008

Last june my RA doctor told me that I have severe RA, I have dealt with it since then trying different drugs and going thru all the hoops and now my new RA doctor told me on my first visit to him that he does not think that I have RA. So we are back to more testing and blood work.

Since there are generations of cancer in my family he is concerned that it could be cancer. This confused me, I don't know much about RA  but I know the pain and symptoms that I have are pretty much the same that I have seen listed from others on this site with RA.

I wanted to know if anyone else has had this happen to them?

I must say that I was very thankful to read what everyone has had to say on the site and knowing that I am not alone in dealing with waking up screaming and crying because the pain is so unbearable.

Feel free to just say hello and share, I listen well.

Thank you

I have not actually had this happen, but I have heard of many people being misdiagnosed.  Did your new rheumatologist explain to you exactly why he thought that you do not have rheumatoid arthritis.  Was it something in your blood tests?  I would be concerned as well, especially if you have all the symptoms and you have been previously diagnosed.  I would ask your rheumatologist exactly why he feels that way, then if you don't feel comfortable with what he is saying you owe it to yourself to get a second opinion.  I know how frustrating this can be as I was misdiagnosed for over two years.  Keep your head up and press on for a diagnosis that you feel comfortable with, as well as a rheumatologist that you feel comfortable with.  Please remember that we are all here for you whenever you need support!  Good luck and best wishes!
