sorry you have had such a hard time with your medications! i havent heard anything about that drug, if your curious about it im sure your rheumy will answer the questions you have about it before you start it. Good luck with everything!!!

I've tried a lot of nasty stuff too.  Sometimes I just go for a while taking 20 mg of Prednisone a day and pain meds.  It's all dangerous and icky, but at least I can get something done.

  3. hives? or injection site reaction?

Could the rash be just an injection site reaction? (i.e., where do you inject?) I get that with Enbrel, and now there are a few raised red bumps that just don't go away.  I have tried Benadryl cream, antibiotic cream, steroid cream ...

Were the hives the large raised spots?  I guess that would be cause for concern.  I had thought that an allergic rash would be in other places onthe body as well, but I'm no expert on this.

they were small almost like a bunch of mosquito bites. they weren't at the injection site but on the opposite side of my abdomen from where i did the injection. where i would do the injection there was always a welt that could last a couple weeks sometimes. when i told the rheumy he said you're showing signs of allergy and to get off it. his new suggestion is simponi (sp?) but i'm not sure how i feel about that.

Hmmm - sounds similar, mine are like that, and they are nearer the belly button than I would inject.

they also itched like mad! i would have to say if yours is similar you may want to talk to your dr and see if he recommends you continue. the welt was something i could live with, the hives not so much.

I understand - this has not itched particularly, but I have a slight rash on my legs (which a steroid cream does help) that itched like crazy for a long time.  Less now ...my doc generally tries to find some other reason for any possible side effect, and whether it's psychological or not, he usually seems to be right.  Not always, but ... (I refused to get Remicade after the 2nd infusion due to some reaction.  Now I wish I could do it ...)

I just had my fifth injection this month and for me Simponi is a blessing.  It is giving me my life back after trying and failing all other biologics.  Have you tried it yet?  I know we are all different, but I highly recommend it, based on my experience.
