Read In Comfort

By Mandy Thursday, February 19, 2009

Hello!

As someone who has many family members living with Arthritis, I am always eager to share good news within this community.

My mom has been an avid reader all of her life and for the last several years she has had to give up that pleasure because she wasn’t able to grip any book for an extended period of time.

I found out about her struggle and promptly found the Book Buddy, which was my Christmas gift to her last year.  It is a perfect little lap pillow that simply holds her books (hard or soft cover of any size or weight) in place with specially designed cords that are adjustable.

She no longer worries about gripping a book.  I know this may sound silly, but it has changed her life!  She is now able to read again for hours at a time in complete comfort.

The Book Buddy also comes with a removable mini-desk that can be used to as a writing surface or for a laptop (or for a little snack J).  She honestly uses the Book Buddy everyday and just cannot say enough good things about it.

Let me know if you have any questions and I hope this helps some of you!

In good health,

Mandy

It doesn't sound silly at all. I had to give up reading regular books several years ago due to shoulder and neck problems and missed it terribly. I'm so glad you found something to help your mom - I've seen the Book Buddy website before and it looks like a terrific product. Thanks for sharing the idea!

You may also want to check out the way I solved my problem with books. I got an iPod and a membership to Audible and now read everything on audio books. I included the suggestion in a post I wrote last year about gift ideas for people with RA - if you're interested, you can check that out here.
