I have suffered some shoulder pain for years. I can always get it back in control with Motrin, exercise and a mind set. I have used a heating pad at times. In 14 years I have had three shots of cortizone for shoulder pain.. I am 61 years old. On December 12/2008 I was involved in a freak accident. A workman doing a cable installation in the ceiling where I work back into me and slammed me into a set of shelves. I was taken to the hospital in a neck brace on a board. I had every test know to medicine. No conclusion. They did see Arthritis. No suprise to me. I stayed in the hospital for two days.. I had to get out, they woke me up on Sunday morning at 4:00 a.m. and said that I needed pain meds in my IV. I knew it was time to exit. I came home and it has all been downhill since then. I am now in a wheel chair and can not move my left side without pain. I have needles and pins constantly on the entire left side of my body. By 6:00 pm I am in the worst pain that I have ever felt. Last night,Christmas 2008 was the worst.. I wanted to stop breathing. I did get some relief from heat and ice. When I left the hospital I received a script for Vicodin.. I did not get it filled until Dec. 22nd because I knew what would happen. I was right. I took it at 11:00 p.m. after being awake for 20 hours I was awake for another 16 hours. It made me hyper and still in pain. I am in an insuarce battle with Workers Comp that I can not believe could happen.. My husband has had a triple by pass, has a pacemaker and a defibrillator. He also has sleep apnea. He is living in my shadow of wrath. I don't like this. I have seen umpteen doctors and PT's They don't get it. What do you think??

First - get in touch in your employer and tell them you must be referred to a specialist and to get in touch in workman's comp and get it worked out - NOW. You have that right. You have suffered an injury that has quite obviously changed the status and quality of your life and that of your family.
If they refuse - get a lawyer.
I am a manager at a printing plant and have dealt with workman's comp a lot.
I pray everything works out for you!
Here is the story. My sister in law owns the business and the plaza that the store is in.
She spent the night in the emergency room with my husband (her brother). Her son -in-law runs the grocery store in the plaza, my sister in law owns that too. She has been my best friend for 51 years. We have been through thick and thin together. Workmans Comp did not get the information until Monday the 17th, I was released from the hospital on Sun. the 16th. My son is an attorrney in another state. He called a firm that I had used once before for an auto accident, 13 years ago. I now have a workers Comp Attorney. He came to my house today. I am not to talk to the adjuster again. I am not to talk to my sister in law about what is going on. I am going to see a neurologist tomorrow. The insurace company has denied payment for my wheel chair. One of their network doctors signed off on it. The adjuster said no. The insurance company said that they mailed me a workers comp check, last week. I have not received it. I am trying to be patient. It is very hard for me to see my husband worn thin. He has a heart problem and is overweight. He has a pacemaker and a difribrilator.
I thank God for my friends and neighbors. My daughter has MS and lives 3 hours away. My son lives on the other coast. My daughter and her family are coming for New Year's Day. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
