    Hi Sarah,

I am glad you are getting a bit of a break although the hourly flashlight routine has to be annoying.  I had to laugh, does anyone get rest in a hospital?  I would personally like to resurrect the old fashioned sanitoriums-at least a gal could go check in for a  month or two and rest.

Good for you-getting the intense medical care you need.  The steroid IV's will make you feel really good and it sounds like you really needed to stop the inflammation in it's tracks with high dose therapy.  That will let you feel better until your new regimen kicks in.  12 meds!  Wow-are they sending the pharmacist home with you to organize your pill-boxes! Let me know if you need any help with those.  It's always so nice to have that many dumped on you at once while you have a glazed look in your eyes and are nodding yes, I understand how to take all 12 of these.  Then you get home and can't remember any of what they said.

Hope you get good rest at home in your own bed.  Can you stay home awhile longer?

    Cheers,

    jamie

Hi there, thanks for your comment - yes get 2 more weeks off - lucky it is school holidays and I am a teacher - good timing really. I have just given the list of medications and the discharge notes to the chemist and he is going to organise them so I do not have to think :)

Back in my own bed now YAY so much more comfy - although it doesnt move up and down with the press of a button :)

    No shining flashlights though

    Sarah,

Glad you are out and can relax at home for a while. Will be thinking about you and hoping all medicine will work well without lots of side effects! I laughed when you said you wouldn't have a stomach left...Emily says that too. I've also teased her she's the only 16 year old with a little pill box like my grandma.

    Get lots of rest!!!

    Lori

Congrats on being sprung!  In terms of the side effects, you may want to check out a post I wrote last year about managing side effects - there's a lot of suggestions in there about dealing with stomach side effects. If things get bad, ask your doctor for a prescription for Pantoloc or Nexium
