Reducing inflamation with diet

By Sorg67 Saturday, December 05, 2009

I have almost completely eliminated refined sugar from my diet and feel significantly better after only a few days.

Good on you.  Does that mean white sugar only or all types of sugar.  Is brown sugar OK  ?

I just read that Giner fresh in cooking, tumeric, Vitamin D supplements if level is low which it is in winter in most countries even here in sunny Australia I supplement in winter, autum, early spring.  Vitamins AC+E    Zinc, Selenium Mangaese, rosemary herb in cooking, olive leaf extract (I crush the leaves from my olive tree in stews etc.) berries, resevetrol,  Pmega 3 oils from fish/krill.

Just wish someone would put it all in a gel cap and not too expensive  !!

I have not been too technical about types of sugar.  I just quit eating candy, ice cream, soda, cookies, etc.  I am still getting some refined sugar.  Hard to eliminated it completely.  I had brown sugar with oatmeal for breakfast yesterday.

BTW, where in Australia are you?  My son is visiting friends in Brisbane from Dec 17 - Jan 6.

Much more responsive in feeling much beter is to simply replace a teaspoon of sugar with a teaspoon of Honey , it reuces pain an ifflamations immediately. I make 2 cups of fresh ground 8'oclock coffee concentrate made with a "French Press" an 2 teasp. honey in your cup an feel the results at once. It will warm ya to the bones.

Have you tried stevia as a sweetner?  I gave up refined sugar about 3 years ago.  I find stevia to sweetned my drinks and other things very good.  I have not yet incorporated stevia into my baking, instead I use splenda.

I do not use artificial sweetners of any kind.  I believe in trying to use natural foods as much as possible.....  Easier said than done.  Smile  http://www.nutritiondata.com/ is a great source of information on foods.

In my case, wheat was the offender.  I had tried several other foods, dairy, eggs, etc. and no difference was seen.  When I got to wheat, my joint pain lessened in 3-4 days and became 90% better in a month.  I am almost pain free now, six weeks after eliminating wheat. I do believe everyone is different and if you do a food challenge and are lucky enough to  find an offender and get it out of your diet, you'll benifit greatly.

I agree.  That is the insidious challenge of RA.  It is different for everybody.  Doctors can only recommend what works on average in studies but we each have to discover what works in our own bodies.
