lorna
Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 10:29 AMI am also scheduled to have a total hip replacement on april 22 2009. I have had ra for almost 30 years amd am in a wheelchair and need a new hip and new knees. This will be my first surgery and I am pretty scared but the pain in my hip is more than I can take. I can hardly even get out of bed. Please let me know how your surgery goes so I can know what to expect. Best of luck to you!

Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 07:30 PMThe Hip surgery, when great, I even came home a day early.
I surprized the Dr. the 2nd day after the surgery, I was sitting up in the
Chair beside the bed. After i ate breakfast and he notice that all my Iv"s were gone.
including the magic botton. He told me that I was doing good. and that if my blood
was still up that afternoon then I could go home. I said that sounded great to me.
I was home that afternoon, the home health Nurse was out the next day.
My dressing needs changeing twice a day now,and that with the thick pads,
but that because of the RA and the meds that I am on but Doc says it looks good,
and that I was doing good. I told him that these hip surgery"s run in my family.

You've already had your knees done, so you know what a relief joint replacement can be. I had both hips done many years ago and it increased my level of function significantly, as well as no more pain! I hope it goes well for you.
