Its really real

By LeighAnn Monday, May 04, 2009

Howdy fellow friends! I hope you are all doing well. Its been a while since I have posted and thought it was time that I own up to my stupidity. :)  I have been taking my RA meds for 8 months now and I feel so close to my "normal" self that its unbelievible. We recently moved and I packed the entire house and unpacked it all for the most part on my own. I did trigger a mild flare but was able to manage it with medication. After the move things got really crazy around here and I forgot to refill my medication (and couldn't find the bottles anyhow!) so I went off my meds for about 3 weeks. Ok so I found them within a couple of days but just sorta refused to refill them. I decided that it was just a FLUKE that the RA meds were helping and well I maybe didn't really have RA. And I would prove that I didn't have RA by NOT taking my medication and contuine on with my "normal" life. Ok so I have 2 things to say about what I did - if you have RA don't stop your medication its dumb. Second - OUCH!!!!. Yeah so I really do have RA, its real, not a fluke. Geez. I guess it was delayed denial. lol It started with my feet... first it wasn't too bad, just achey by the end of the day then it was painful getting up first thing in the morning. And it wasn't too long before it felt like I was walking on large rocks all day - barefoot. Then my hands started in, next were my wrists, and all the other joints started in on me. So I gave in after several very long nights of no sleep and started taking my medication. I have to admit that since we've moved for whatever reason I have had a hard time remember to take my meds but I think its just the tailend of the denial hanging on for dear life. :) lol

Ah yes, denial... it ain't just a river in Egypt. Smile

sometimes, we have to make the mistake so we can remember not to do that again. We've all been there. glad you're back on your meds and by the way? Packing and unpacking a house on your own? Wow...

Nope its not just a river... lol! All my life I have been a student of the school of hard knocks... I have to learn it the hard way I guess to see if MY way is any better! HA! I am glad to be back on my meds too but there are days that I really hate the idea of popping a handfull of pills every day for the rest of my life. But what other choice do we all have??

Take care and stay healthy!
