food intolerance

By Alicia Wednesday, October 08, 2008
I was diagnosed two months ago. I am 25 years old. I have a 9 year old child and lots to live for. I have read so many terrible reports about the side effects of medications for RA. I was researching on the internet and came across the website, Conquering Arthritis.com. This is a web site that Barbara Allan created detailing her struggle with RA. She talks about how food intolerances play a major role in RA. I fasted for 4 days and on day 3 and 4, I was about 75% symptom free. On Thursday I am going to take the Alcat test that tests for 150 different foods to see if I am intolerant. If so, she stated that cutting these out helped her tremendously. It really is an amazing book and website. There is no harm in checking it out. Good luck and please at least read it over.

I too, read Barbara Allens book. Did the fast for four days, and then on her advice did four more days of water only. My RA never shut down a minute.  So, I hope it works for you. I am now on Humira and Methotrexate and back to normal. During this whole process of going natural I suffered greatly.  The thing is your rheumatologist doesn't want to hear that you are going off the medicine and doing a fast. The main reason it that there is no substantiated studies around to prove that it works.  Danny

Wow. I am sad to hear that. It really did work well for me. But, I too am taking methotrexate and humira, as of today. I am going to do both things. I took the alcat test to find out exactly what I am intolerant to. It should be here anyday now. It tested 150 foods. So, that in combination with the drugs will hopefully help. I hope you feel better too. What kind of side effects do you have from the two aforementioned meds? I am kinda worried about that. THANKS AND GOD BLESS!

Hi Alicia, I am doing pretty good on the meds. Ironically we are on the same ones.  I am interested in your results from the Alcat tests. So I hope you post them.  Thanks, Danny

So what foods are you intolerant to and have you found that it has helped? I have RA and have been on MTX for 8 weeks with no real help. I start self injections next week.
