These are great ideas!  As far as the rice bag, I use something similar as well.  I use the bean bag heating pads that you put in the microwave and your right, they mold wonderfully to your aching joints.  I use arthritis gloves or "edema gloves"  ALL the time!  They are tight on my hands which help with both pain and swelling.  I have also found a new favorite.  It is made by ace bandages.  It is an elastic strap that fits around your body that stays with velcro.  It has a little compartment that holds an ice/heat pack.  It's great for those hard to stay places such as your shoulders or hips.  For my feet I use memory foam slippers.  But I also put in an extra memory foam shoe insert that makes your feet feel like you are walking on air when every bone in your foot feels like it is broken and you are dreading having to walk around the house.  I use a new ergonomic pen that slips onto your finger so that you barely have to grip it to write.  I also use key extenders as I have problems with my keys when I have pain in my hands or wrists.  These clip right on to your keys and make the part that hold bigger and more easy to manage.  Thanks for the great tips and the oppertunity to add a few of mine!  Good luck, and best wishes!

Hi I have had RA for about 4 years now and I don't take anything but Advil, what I do is watch what I eat.  I can't eat too much cheese, milk, and juice otherwise I will get a flair.  Oh I forgot about starch like potatoes or pasta this will also cause a flair.  I try to eat as much vegatables as possible mostly raw.  I have to have veggies with every meal this has helped the most for me.  I hope this will help you.  Sometime I mess up with my diet and that's when I am in pain.  Just try eating as much veggies as possible I believe it will help.

For the most part i am a Vegitarian with chicken or fish  here and there but thats it. I dont eat bread, not much pasta I'm not much of a potato person either.. Milk is on my menu once a week if that because with 4 kids who loves milk I dont see much other than an empty jug. I wish i could only take advil, but that is not an option for me.. I have a severe case and that is put mildly to say the least. I have had this less than a year and had visible dammage in my hands only 2 months in to it. I had such a severe onset that they had a diagnosis within 3 months of being sick.

What Kind of Juice do you avoid? I do love my OJ, I dont get it often but when i do I am in heaven

Hi Gizelle, I love juice all kinds but when I drink it now I water it down because I don't drink a lot of water, not nearly as much as I should. I think it's the sugar in the juice that causes the flare sometimes.  That why I water down.  Its hard for me to drink water like I drink juice.   I do take a lot of vitamins Roex as a matter of fact they are expensive but worth it.  You can look them up on the internet, and they have a radio show on there web site.  It great!!  The vitamins help a great deal.

When I eat something if I start to swell up or my wrist starts to swell I know this is something I can't eat otherwise I am in pain.  I cut down alot on my meat including chicken and fish and just eat more vegatables and I did a fast for a few days every 3 to 4 months to get the toxins out.  I also go to bed earlier to get more rest because I have a 7 year and I am stress out alot.  The more rest and exercise you get the better.  Well I talk to much hope this helps.
