HI, I LIVE IN THE CHGO AREA AND CONTINUE TO SEARCH FOR RA SUPPORT GROUPS VIA ONLINE., DIAGNOSED WITH RA OVER 10 YRS AGO., I PERSONALLY FEEL A SUPPORT GROUP WOULD BE MOST BENEFITIAL FOR COPING WITH THIS CONDITION AND HOPE TO CONNECT WITH OTHERS WHO MAY HAVE SIMILAR NEED.,

Hi, Carol Jo,

I know there is a support group in Elgin, IL...or there used to be. Not sure how far that is from you. It is unclear to me whether you are looking for a local support group on an online support group. You are welcome to share anything with us here at Health Central. There is a quesion section, and a SharePost section for people to share their stories, ask questions, or just vent. This is a supportive community.

HI V, THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY., I WAS LOOKING FOR AN ONLINE SUPPORT GROUP AND POSSIBLE EMAIL/CHAT CONNECTION., ELGIN IS TOO FAR FROM CHGO., BELEIVE IT OR NOT, THIS CITY HAS LITTLE TO OFFER IN TERMS OF SUPPORT., MY CONCEPT OF SUPPORT IS KNOWING OTHERS WHO HAVE RA AND SHARING THEIR EXPERIENCES, FEELINGS, ETC., MAKING FRIENDS WITH OTHERS WHO RA WAS MY OBJECTIVE.,

If you're specifically looking for a "real-life" support group (as opposed to the many support group that exists online, such as here on HealthCentral, Facebook, etc.), contact your local chapter of The Arthritis Foundation - they may be aware of a group in your area. Your rheumatologist may also have some feedback on this. You can also contact Arthritis Introspective. It's a grassroots organization that helps people start support groups and it also maintains a list of groups that already exist.
