I am 56 years old and have been living with RA for one year. The older it seems I get the more health problems I have. I have to say RA has been the worst. I started treatment on Plaquenil and an anti-inflammatory  drug which seem to help with the pain for about 8 months. The pain has gotten worse. My rheumatologist added methotrexate and folic acid which I will begin next week. I hope the side effects are minimal. I also was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 three years ago. My family has a history of High Blood Pressure,RA, and Heart Disease. I lost both of my parents to Heart Disease at the age of 61. I am a retired public school educator, however, I wanted to continue  teaching. I'm currently a special education teacher of middle/high school students in a juvenile detention center. I would like to work 5 more years, but I don't know if I'll physically be able to make it. I have found your journal entries very helpful. It is so nice to know I'm not the only one with this disease.
