I have been taking Plaquenil for 27 days as of today.  The first two weeks I hurt worse than I have ever hurt in other places before! My fingers in my joints hurt so bad it's hard to type. My knees are now hurting. For a week I forgot to take the 2nd dosage @ night, and the pain lessened. Now I ...

Ugh!  So sorry the plaquenil isn't working for you.  They put me on plaquenil when I was first diagnosed... it didn't work for me either.  My rheumy switched me to a different med pretty quickly.  It couldn't hurt to call your rheumy and let them know that it hasn't helped at all.  Can you take pain medicine to help you get through until the next step?  (vicodin is my savior sometimes!)  I think they start with the lower medicines at first, and as they don't work will switch you to the more heavy-duty stuff.  (biologics)  Enbrel and Meth did great for me for years!  (my first biologic)  I know it's frusterating to have the little things be so challenging.  I had 2 infants and a 2 yr old to take care of all day and night when I was diagnosed... and all the flippin little snaps on the babies' clothes were pure torture!

Good luck!  I hope you get some relief soon!

I have been taking Plaquenil for almost a week now.  They told me to stop taking my Mobic too.  I did as I was told and I was in the same boat you are.  I could have died.  This was from Friday-Monday.  I couldnt go to work on Monday...couldnt hardly get outta bed!!  I called my Rheumy and told them I waned off of it and back on the Mobic.  At least with treating the symptoms I could live!!!  She quickly called me back (noticing the urgency in my cry for help) and told me to continue taking the Plaquenil and told me that I could take the Mobic too.  WHAT!!  They let me SUFFER the WHOLE weekend...Anyhoo I felt better within hours of taking the Mobic.  It was an eyeopening experience for me though.  I realize what this is doing to my body.  I hurt in places that I didnt even know hurt!  CRAZY.  I now know what pain is!!  And the discomfort that I feel daily is nothing compared to PAIN!  Hang in there.  I agree though...CALL THEM!!  No need to suffer.  Good luck!!

I went to the dr yesterday :0) She started me on Medrol. Haven't picked it up from the pharmacy yet, but hopefully it will help. She is worried about it affecting my liver. So, she said she will only have me try it for a few weeks. Man this is starting to get expensive!
