NUMB CRAZY

By shannonlee Thursday, February 19, 2009

This numbness battle is wearing me out. I am confused, disappointed and frustrated. I have had issues with this left sided numbness well before I was diagnosed with RA. I was told it was "complecated migrane" the worst one out there I guess...but the thing is I didnt always have a headache when I got numb. This has been a rare issue with me for the past 4 or 5 years. I get no answers. I went to a crazy Neuro in Cali that didnt listen, didnt do any tests and just prescribed pain meds and sent me on my merry way. I went to a neuro in WA and had to do nerve conduction testing for 4 flipping hours and that came out inconclusive, he did recomend I have a lumbar puncture. Spinal tap what fun....I kind of do want that if it will help me. I had an MRI that came up with a small pituitary tumor and an angioma in the periatal lobe. I have an extreamly high RHfactor, possitive for autoimmune, low white blood cell count, my doctor says I may have Lupus as well. I am a disaster. I am alone, my family lives in another state, I dont work or CANT work. There is no help in America. My spine hurts all the time, its agravated when Im moving around, my head hurts, cant feel my left side...now to describe it-its more like putting a thick comforter over your arm and touch it, weird-you know your being touched but it just feels different. thats what its like. I dont believe this is a drug reaction. Ive stopped Plaquenil weeks ago and this is still going on and I had this happen before taking that med the only thing different is that tightness in my throat.

I dont know what my point was with writting this. I feel like Im losing my marbles. Im not sleeping, when I do get up Im still soo tired like I didnt sleep. I wish I could get figured out then go on vacation. Knowing bad news is better than knowing NO news.

This site and the people on it are a blessing. Thank you guys soooo very much. Its hard for all of us even on good days.

Keep going back to the doctors until you get an answer. It's going to be frustrating (of course, it's been frustrating for a long time), but there's clearly something not right and somewhere out there, there's someone who'll know what to do. The trick is finding them. I wish you the best of luck.

I agree with the others. keep going to the doctors until someone listens. What you are going through is notnormal. I would get the Spinal if it were me. How can they tell you you have tumors and then say their is nothing wrong? I have been blessed with good doctors. But in the past I have had some that I could have strangled. The ones that did nothing and completely misdiagnosed things ( simple health issues to diagnos too) have made me be an advocate for myslef and say screw you if you will not help me. I will find someone with a brain who will. Out of those experiences I have found some great doctors. Where is California are you. I am in So Cal. I could give you the name of some great docs if we are in the same area.

Wow.... you may have R A, but you should see a Neuroligist... I think it is a STROKE..

I have had RA for almost 32 years, I have had had three strokes.
