Well I made it through the wedding with all smiles. Leading up to it was oh so eventful, but I wont bore you with that. What I will bore you with, is what I find so many on here saying, and that is a Rheumy with no heart! Come on now, why are these guys even in business. I went for my check up with m...

Laurie, You poor thing! I hate to hear about doctors like that. I recently went to one who said to give up all pain meds and tough it out. I think I would rather be dead than have to live with this much pain. I hope to see a good Rheumy soon myself but have been waiting almost 2 months to hear when I can.

I have low thyroid and was on Methotrexate for 3 years. I didn't notice any difference in the thyroid but developed daily migraines and still have them even tho I have been off the Methotrexate for years. A wonderful doctor who specialized in thyroid disorders told me to not take synthetic thyroid but to take Armour Natural Thyroid. I was taking Armour until a doctor changed me to Synthyroid but it was like taking no thyroid. I was so tired and listless. I went back to the Armour and after a couple weeks felt so much better.

A rash can be dangerous I was told by my first Rheumy years ago. He said if a rash is severe enough it can be as bad as a 3rd degree burn. This was because of a reaction I had to gold shots at the time, but I am assuming any severe rash could be dangerous.

Hang in there and I pray you will get a decent caring doctor soon. Some doctors should be forced to go to charm school or school on manners. lol Bon

    Bon,

Thanks for the insight on the thyroid, i am very concerned about the low TSH and this rash. The last time I had  rash it wasnt this bad and my regular doctor freaked. I am sure he will freak this time as well. I just have to wait a week before I can get it to see him. Seems everything is  serious when you have RA and your immune system is off kilter. I wish everyone else knew that as well. Your words are encouraging,

    thank you!

    Hi there Laurie,

I'm glad you made it through the wedding, I'm sure that is a huge relief!  Your rheumy sounds awful.  Yeesch!  If your regular MD "freaked" at your previous rash and it wasn't as bad as this one, I would call his office back and tell that to the scheduling clerk, and tell her you need to be seen sooner than in one week.  Usually doc's have emergency slots, or you could be seen by another doc or NP within the practice.  If you don't have any luck with that, ask if they have a cancellation list.  If not, just keep calling back to check for cancellations.  I'll bet they'll have at least one if not more between now and next week.  Good luck!

So glad the wedding went well!

I can't believe your rheumatologist, he is definitely one of the doctors to stay away from. Good for you for speaking up for yourself - I love it when people put their foot down with idiot doctors. I don't know about the rash, but would recommend that you ask your family doctor for referral to a dermatologist. Good luck!

    Hi Laurie,

I have had RA symptoms and diagnosed thyroid disease for over 30 years. I MIGHT know the answer if you want to ask a specific question.

Here's what I take for my thyroid: 137 mcg of Levoxyl and 5 mcg of Cytomel. The Cytomel is T-3. I finally found this smart Endocrinologist and he told me that either the 30 years fo supplements or the RA has left my body unable turn the fake T-4 into the T-3 anymore. So, I take just a little Cytomel (it's T-3) and IT'S MAGIC. Have used this for 3 years and I would never give it up. (I can give your more details if you like.)

T-4 is what the hormone is in your blood as it is not in use. T-3 is the usable form.

I have met so many bad Endocrinologists over 30 years...

Find one who will listen.  And a good Dermatologist is a good idea, too.

I am sorry that this is hard. We can all try to help one another. Cool

    Take care, Kelly : )

Thank you so much. I am beginning to wonder if my thyroid isnt a main culprit in so many of my problems. Lately, i am so depressed i can't see the light of day, and to be honest I DONT REALLY CARE. I cry at the drop of a hat, or realizing that I have no PASSION for anything in life. I wonder if people with children have it better because they have a reason to live. Even though I am newly married, we have no kids and to be honest death looks so good lately. All i think about is dying and how better off everyone would be including myself. Its like I have no control over anything and just going through the  motions to pay the bills is not enough to keep me around. I dont know when I lost my zest for life, but i know i have lost it, and how to get it back, i dont know how, and right now dont even care. I am just so done with everything. But i wonder if the combination of meds, and the war within my body is the blame????

    Hey Yellow

That is totally thyroid. I know from 30 years of it.

You can email me at rawarrior@att.net

This depression is not your fault, but you are unfortunately the one who can do something about it.

Life is not fair. And it is hard. But you will feel better and see how much it is worth the trouble.
