What meds are you on?

By Heather Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Hi again. I am currently taking prednisone and methotrexate for my RA. I have only been on the methotrexate for about a month and I still have no pain relief. I was reading up on this drug and it said it could take up to 27 weeks for it to stabalize in your system. 27 WEEKS!!! That is a long time to wait!!  I am hoping that is not true. Does anyone have a different opinion about this?? Did it help your symptoms when it did start to work?

Hello

I was put on methotrexate and Enbrel so for me relief was within 30 days.  You may want to see if your Dr. will get you steriod shot( they are instant helpful) or put back on a small dose of pred. to help you through the next couple of months.

All of the drugs that I have ever been put on take too long to find out if they are actually going to even work.  Watch out for the doctors who put you on prednisone to mask the pain as best they can.  Unfortuanately ,  prednisone is nasty and the doctor has continued to keep me on it for almost 5 years.  I have been on the max of methotrexate for close to 2 years and this has been combined with several other drugs in attempt to find the right combination.  Tomorrow I will do my first Humira injection since after 3 months of Enbrel didn't work for me.  I get the feeling that my doctor might not have a lot of faith in the Humira since  he has already brought up that we may have to look into infusions next.  We will have to see????  It is a rough road, so brace yourself.  I have been dealing with this for 7 years now and still looking for the right combination of meds that will take away the pain and inflammation.  Good Luck  Chin Up.
