We don't talk too much about faith and spirituality around here. What you believe and what gets you through is very personal and although many of us touch on it occasionally in SharePosts, it tends to be in the background. Not just because of the privacy thing, but probably also because generally, th...

This could be a good thing. Even if we have differing beliefs there are certain things that seem to get us all though "it". As long as we are sensitive to others feelings there may be things brought out that could help someone who is stuggling with various situations. I will be checking this out.

I think the Religious 'thing' is to be kept to yourself.  Someone from this site emailed me that their rheumatoid was cured just because they prayed  !!

and suggested that I shoudld start praying and be cured  !!!!!!

Well I got real angry at this.   I stopped praying years ago as it was NOT WORKING.

I am a tireless worker when health permits for people with RA.  I am fighting a Disability Discrimination Complaint thru the Human Rights people.

I just took in a neighbour's cat after the neighbour died.   I mean how good do I have to be to get a cure  ?

Praying - when I used to do so did not save my older brother nor my nephew.

So no thanks - keep your religious stuff to yourself.

Nothing more upsetting than someone telling you their RA is cured thru praying.

I hear exactly where you are coming from. I know quite a few people like the person you described. I have someone in my family that is very much like the person you described and for years used to try to "cure" my RA by calling me every week and suggesting every cure they came across. I think spirituallity is a very individual thing. It can be very upsetting and traumatizing to us when people who think they "have an answer" just cause us more pain by invading our private space. I think a belief in God can help us even if the most trying of life's situations but I also think that those who intrude on our lives with their own brand of "this is what you should do and you will ie: get well, have a family member cured, not have any problems, etc"... have not done their studying. I also believe in the power of medicines and doctors. I love my rheumatologist and he has told me he will not let me get to the point I was eight years ago and if there were issues then we would keep looking for the right meds. This is why I said we all look for the things that help us get through each day. We are all individuals. What is right for one person might not be right for another but through it all one of the most if not the most important thing is to remember each others feelings, especially when giving advice.
