Hi,
I have a rheumy appointment on May 29th. This will be my first with this one. I moved to Syracuse from Chicago and am extremely worried about the change in doctors. It took me 5 years to find one that I connected with in Chicago.
Anyway, I've been on Enbrel for a...

Some things to think about!

Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 12:54 AMI am sorry to hear that you are having so much pain. It does sound like the Enbrel isn't working so well for you anymore. If you are thinking about trying a new medication you might speak to your rheumatologist about Orencia. I have be waiting, not so patiently, for the money to be able to afford it but have heard wonders. I used to sitting in the infusion room at my rheumatologist's office and heard many, many success stories. I have included a link if you would like to read up a little:
http://www.healthcentral.com/rheumatoid-arthritis/c/53/1832/orencia/
Another thing that you might be interested is steroid injections in your hips. They do wonders for me as I am waiting for total hip replacement. My injections are steroid and lidocane and they really help. And believe me, I know how hard it is to get around when your hips are flared. Also try a rice or bean bag heating pad for your other joints. The bag is able to mold to any joint that you need it for. I hope for relief soon, and let us know how your appointment went. Keep us updated. Good luck and best wishes!

Have you Tried Humira?

Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 09:45 AMHi my daughter had the same problem with Enbrel and was moved to Kineret which gave her a lot of grief (it isn't even approved for juvenile use) and now is being set up with Humira. I have heard from several people that have been move to Humira from Enbrel and have had a lot of success. Ask your new Rheumatologist about it. Just a thought!! Also I know that Enbrel is not as successfull in people if they don't take a concurrent dose of Methotrexate. At least that is my understanding. Good luck!!!

Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 02:58 PMI'm currently waiting to try something new myself. I've been on prednisone for 28 years and the doctors want me off of it. I am currently battling a post-op infection so they dont want to try anything new yet. I think they want to try enbrel or humira. Humira has a better success story for my family so I may go with that. Ask your doctor about Humira. Good luck.

welllll, if you're open to just about anything:
sleep more.
buy a juicer, and juice, juice, juice. Do a juice fast for a few days. If you really need something more substantial, eat rice cakes with dairy-free guacamole spread on top.
drink more water.
breath deeply.
relax.
take prednisone for a day or two.
