At the ripe old age of 15 I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis & hypothyroidism (hashimotos.) I have since graduated to regular old rheumatoid arthritis, and been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Sjogrens Syndrome and seasonal allergies. My medications include humira, methotrexate, folic acid, zyrtec, restasis, levothyroxine, and nexium. Basically the last half of my teen years were not what you'd call normal. As of today both my wrists are fused because of RA, my ankles barely function, my elbows crackle and my knees have seen better days. I've been through hell and back with my medications, within the past year I switched from enbrel to humira. i'm much happier on humira. My dosage of methotrexate has been switched many times. My thyroid levels seem to change constantly. I've spent weeks in bed and have stayed overnight in the hospital. I lost 30 lbs the few months after my diagnosis in may of 2004, and trust me I didn't need to lose weight before being diagnosed I weighed 103, afterwards 77lbs. I almost died, and I believe I would have if we didn't discover that I was so sick because my enbrel was being improperly refrigerated. Since then I fought against RA. My disease is still very active. I was forced to drop out of high school because of my disease. I've lost friends, Ive lost jobs. Needless to say I'm not very fond of my RA, but then again who is?

First let me say that I feel for all that you must be going through. RA is bad enough without the other diseases you have.
I was diagnosed with RA at the age of 19. That was 45 years ago now . I have been on just about every drug out there. I started with gold injections and that eventually got me off of crutches and into remission for a while. I had to go off of the gold when I became pregnant. Eventually my arthritis flared up and that was when the prade of drugs began. Antinflammatory drugs, plaquenil, arava which made me very ill, and then on methotrexate which I had to go off of because of side effects. I am presently on Humaria and imuran and after having several of my joints injected am feeling much better. I also have asthma and use Flovent for that and I take Nexium for acid reflux. I also take antidepressants for depression related to RA. Athritis is not an easy disease to live with. I have been through the "why me" thinking for a long time and have finally come to the conclusion that things just happen. I try to keep a positive attitude about it all.
Keep the faith and I wish you luck in your life with all of your conditions. - Galen
