From what I have read RA doesn't really affect your spine and back all that much.  However, for the longest time, even before I was diagnosed, I will have soreness in my upper back, like between my shoulders.  Recently I noticed it has been sore around the same time that my shoulders may be fla...

I have similar back pain. I've actually begun seeing a chiropractor for it, and it has been helping. He can't confirm or deny that it's related to the RA, but it does relieve the pain for a while. I have a feeling it's a reaction to the way I carry my body now because of the other pains that I feel. I'm not sure either..... sometimes it seems that everything is related to the RA now....

My doc says that its due to fibromyalgia which goes together a lot of times with RA.  She says the less sleep I get due to pain of RA, the more my muscles will hurt.  Besides in between your shoulder blades, do you ever hurt on the muscles right below the bend of your elbow, in your butt that shoots pains down to your knee and sometimes all the way to your ankle?  Do you have muscle pains on the front of you right below your collar bone or base of your skull on either side?  This may not be you, but for me it got so bad my doc put me on Gabapentin (a seizure drug-but can be used to treat this also) to help alleviate the muscle pain to get me some relief.  For me this was a life saver since I have not been able to sleep and the muscle pain in addition to the RA got so bad that I couldn't function.  Just thought I'd share just in case!  I hope you find some relief from whatever is causing it, I so feel for you!!  Happy Holidays, Laurie
