Diagnosed with RA in 2006 has really been a life changing experience for me. I've went from taking several medications that never worked for what my Rheumatologist calls very active RA from Orencia, Enbrel, Humiria, Plaquenil, & Rituxan, which is the only one that has worked for me. October of 2009 I got a new job with the State of Louisiana not even knowing that I wouldn't be covered for pre-existing conditions until May 27, 2010, 6 months later when I was suppose to get my Rituxan infusion in February of 2010. Well it has really been hard since February and I had been counting down to get my infusion on May 27th not even knowing that while taking the only thing I could which was prednisone until I could get the infusion that my immune system would get so low and I would end up in the hospital with Pneumonia for a week and on bed rest for two weeks. Well that was April 28th when I went into the hospital and things just didn't get any better for me. The day before May 27th I went back to the doctor for a follow up before they would let me get my Rituxan infusion due to the fact I had just been in the hospital with Pneumonia three weeks ago and gave me the worst news ever. I had been counting down for 6 months to get my infusion, battling day to day with my joints inflaming and the day before those 6 months were up I was told I had to wait another month to get my infusion because I still had revolving Pneumonia in my lungs still after four weeks of treatment, and although I don't want to make anything worst, my RA has just been getting worst by the day. This experience within the last two months has really been difficult for me trying to work and be a full time mom to a 10 year old, but I know God is in control and hopefully in two more weeks everything will be ok. I must admit though that times are hard for me right now, but I know as long as i keep trusting in God, he'll take care of it all. And I'm still happy because I just found out that my insurance will cover my Rituxan 100%, so I guess it's not that bad after all. Also I just found out there's a new medication for RA, so I guess I'll try that if I need to in the future, but I must say when I'm on the Rituxan sometime I forget I even have RA so it's really good medication for controlling my severe RA symptoms.

I'm so sorry to hear about your nightmare wait time of six months +1. I remember waiting for Enbrel with things getting progressively worse each day and it's a very hard time.
It looks like there's a light at the end of the tunnel, though - hopefully Rituxan will work again and how wonderful that it's fully covered!
