i had MRI done with results of stress reaction at AC joint. I have had so much pain in my shoulder for months and getting worse. i havent talked to Dr yet abt results, i just picked up report today. I try to read as much as possible abt results. has anyone else had this problem? thanks, colleen

I have significant shoulder pain, but what specific joint(s) that comes from, I don't know.
when you have RA, it's quite common to have increased pain, not just from the disease, but from the added stress on joints that comes from moving differently, putting strain on the weak joint, etc. You may want to ask your doctor for a referral to physiotherapy for assistance with treatment and exercise that can help you build up the supporting muscles. As well, you can ask for a referral to an occupational therapist who may be able to help you access various doodads that can make your daily life easier (such as jar openers, various kitchen tools, etc.).
Hi. thanks for responding. I have the gadgits for helping. my hubby gave them to me at christmas, big help. my ra dr i am discusted with and there are not too many good ones in the area. I have been through a few. he wants to send me to ortho dr. UGH. doesnt he get it? it all my joints, that one is worse. i am still not on any dmards. I have had problems with them in past and says no to methotrexate. i was on steroids for short time and went off then i am worse. i live on pain meds, trazadone, neurontin.
i think Dr just doesnt know what to do with me. i have been through soooo much medically over 20 yrs it would turn your head around. my body doesnt like me too much. I had good msg at church sunday, Gods got a plan and i am accepting this for now guessing he is using it for his purpose.(JOB) I am sick of the pain all over but am used to it. i am just worried abt long term effects of no help.
i have read so many people with same problem. colleen
it can be really hard to find a good doctor - sorry you're having such a hard time with that. I would recommend seeing the ortho doctor - they may have some suggestions that could help you or a lead on about a rheumatologist. Sometimes, the road to a good doctor is not a straight one.
I would also suggest you reconsider trying another of the DMARDs. I've had problems with many of them, but finally found one that works well for me. It's the only way out and really scary to try another one after having had bad experiences, but it's possible you might find one that works for you.
I plan on seeing an ortho. if they said surgery, i would be there tomorrow, thats how bad shoulder, muscles hurt.its in all of my joints though so i still need rheumy. he is a fellow and i think he is frustrated. i wont play the games they play in their office, I ran a Drs office, supervisor and been in medicine since 17. i cant stand the games. i have a wonderful GP, shes great. i have bad bad reactions to those meds and have soo many allergies, the Drs are stumped with me, and thats been the way for yrs. I get sick of starting over with new drs so i end up not doing anything and then I am in so much pain i cant take it. I am like that every day. summer time is worse for me and living in Florida, it lasts a long time. Did you ever get to the point of joint replacements? I read everything i can possibly read abt it.the one thing i can say is i found my nich through being stressed out that i started a jewelry making and selling. its very theraputic and turns out I am pretty good at it and make unusual stuff. got into making natural stones ect.
thanks for writing me, i can always use the conversations. : ) colleen
Hi Colleen,
Yes, I have had joint replacement in both hips a long time ago. It's wonderful. I know a number of people who had hip replacements lately and whose lives have changed for the better. The other joints that are affected by your RA are still problematic, but it's amazing how much it can help to have just one joint not be in pain anymore.
I'm glad you found your niche where you can be happy in make something beautiful. Beauty helps. Have you considered writing a SharePost on this site? Hi. how do i set that up? and do you think I am too depressing? I am always afraid i seem like that and dont want to be like that, i truly just want to be able to help someone else. and the jewelry? i love it and am good at it. although its after my pain meds kick in. its more a mental thing. please be truthful with me ok? thanks again, colleen
to write a SharePost, you go to My Home (up there in the right-hand corner of your monitor by your profile picture), click on My Stuff and then again on Create a SharePost and off you go. If you want, you can write the post off line first to fine-tune what you want to say and then cut and paste it into the field in the SharePost. I think you have lots to share - you have started your business doing something creative, you have a very interesting experience with the complexities of your disease, etc.
Be honest. Sometimes, life with RA is depressing, especially when we are in the trenches, fighting to get better. It's all part of living with this disease and I think many people feel like they can't share that part with their healthy family and friends - nobody understands the dark parts like somebody who's been there and having a place where you can be honest about the dark corners of your soul is a good thing. And we can do that here and when we get better, we can share that, too.
