Hello V, Lene, and all,
I'm pleased to report to y'all that I found an RA specialist in New Orleans (we live 45 mins away) who will see my husband in 2 weeks. It's now a week away on 26th. I was concerned as to why I was able to get in to see him so soon when all other "rheumy" docs are backed up for months. However, Chris and I went to his bi-annual (I hope that means twiace a year) cardiologist appt on this past Tuesday and when I mentioned who we were going to see for the RA, he commented that he is a very good doRA specialist! So that alleviated all my concerns there! ...............A week ago, Chris started to get a flare on left hand--I called our PCP right away (who has him on low dose of prednisone, 5mg). He told him to double the dose (10 mg twice daily) for a week. Anyway, the flare did not get any worse and did not spread to his other (right) hand---- very thankful for that. And this flare fizzled out in 3 to 4 days and did not get any worse! In the meantime, he is feeling a lot better and we can't wait to get in to see the specialist.
I hope all of you are faring well. And I thank-you for this great site.
Many blessings,
memy (aka Mimi).........if anyone wants to contact me via personal email, I think it's on my profile page, I am open for that idea, unless it's a no-no here!)

Hello, Memy,
So happy to hear you were able to get an appointment with a Rheumatologist so quickly. You husband might want to keep a pain log and show it to the new doctor when he sees him or her. Also, be sure to write down all of your husband's medications and have him take it to his appointment. I find this useful, because sometimes my mind goes blank when I am at a doctor's office. Senior moments, I guess!
Blessings,
V
