Yikes More medicine...

By tatagrn Thursday, October 23, 2008

I was diagnosed back in May with RA.. Have been on MTX and started injections back in Aug because the pills weren't working. Also was taking Sulfasalazine. I also take folic acid and ultram er for pain.. Was on Lyrica but had swelling problems so I am off that for now.. The Ultram Er doesn't work to well for pain. Any suggestions? I am not sure what else they give for pain.. I went to the doctor this week and my levels are still elevated...So my Rheumy said we need to get this under control.. She is starting me on Enbrel as soon as the insurance oks it. Seems like alot, now it will be two shots a week.. I am having a hard time acccepting all of this.. I work 40  hours a week with an hour drive each way to work.. It makes for a long day and my feet and hands have been bothering me alot... Anyone else take the same meds or similar with any suggestions.. It's alot to take in and deal with.. And nobody seems to understand, its hard to get out of bed in the morning let alone work all day.... I am up for any tips someone may pass along...

I don't have RA, but I do suffer from chronic pain and have degenerative arthritis in my

Temporomandibular Joint. I first tried heat therapy, then ultram with muscle relaxers. The ultram didn't help much with the pain either, but hydrocodone and percocet helps. The only problem with that is if you are working and driving long distance, the drowsiness can cause a whole other set of problems; not to mention the possibility of addiction. I just strictly adhere to the dctrs orders and do my best to manage. I hope you find a treatment that works for you and wish you well.
