Hi All,   I get the impression that most people flock to these RA sites when their condition is deteriorating and they feel depressed. I know that is the case for me. However, I am here today to give you an update on my RA that made it very hard to walk; I had swelling from my ankles through ...

I've heard of someone else on this site taking aloe, I never thought of taking it internally - hmmn!  And you're right about movement.  As the ad says, "NEVER STOP MOVING!" it's the worst thing you can do!

I'm not surprised that walking is easier than running (not sure why it should be otherwise, running is much higher impact!)

If you haven't read Lene Anderson's shareposts, you might be interested because she also got RA at 4 years old...but it sounds like you hae a cyclical form of the disease.  Does there seem to be something that triggers a flare for you?

Thanks for sharing your story, I'd like to hear more!

I'm so glad to hear that your meds kicked in and you're back to enjoying life. It really can be like a miracle, can't it?

Definitely happens. You need to be patient. Every time I have a flare up, i think to myself "thats it, i will never be able to ______ again". But when the meds kick in, it is unbelievable how much better you will feel.

For me, I dont take meds permenantly (at least i havent had to as of yet). In the past I have been gradually weaned off of them, when the pain and swelling goes down (approximately a year in time). Don't know if I will be able to live without meds in the future, but I am hopeful that this flare up will go away as others have in the past, and i will no longer need any medication.

We will see. Some people prefer to stay on meds permanently, just so it doesnt get out of control in a short time when you have a flare up, but for me, i just wait until i feel like a flare up is in the works and then go see my doctor asap.

    Feel better!

Yes, it seems to be cyclical. If I knew what caused the flare ups, I would never have one again! hehehe. Anyways, yes I definitely recommend the aloe pills, but get some that are 100% aloe with nothing else in them (like on the website I recommended). I have also started buying apple vinegar, I would recommend buying it at a whole foods store, so its more organic and natural). First thing in the morning take one tablespoon apple vinegar and put it into a glass of water. That will be a bit sour, so put one tablespoon honey, stir and drink. Do this every single morning and you will feel better!!

I thought this was an old Russian proverb, but I'm doing it, and I do feel a lot better (maybe not related to this, but still worth a try).

Keep up your spirits, think positive, and keep it movin!
