I am on my 6th week of methotrexate and the doctor had said that the side effects should only last a few weeks to a month. I am still sickly.....very tired and achy like I miss at least 2 days a week of work and upset stomach. Does this feeling ever go away????

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 06:36 PMI am taking Methotrexate too, (3.5 months now). I cannot tell if it is really helping me or not! It seams that it is not really helping with the aches and pain at all.
I to am having a lot of trouble with my "before RA" and " after RA" life. I struggle with it every day! It can really pull you right down in the dumps!
Thanks for commeting and letting us "into your thoughts" on life with RA. Good luck to you, and you are right,...We are all so much more that people with RA!

Methotrexate

Friday, July 18, 2008 at 12:59 PMI've had RA for 18 months and have been on methotrexate (or "Meth" as I like to call it! :) since the beginning, the side effects for me took almost two full months to go away. I used to take my pills right before bed, and would always wake up in the morning just yucky, so now I take them with dinner and noticed that helped. Talk to your Dr about possibly taking Mylanta for the upset stomach. I am also taking Nabumentone 2x daily for the aching and inflammation. Talk to your boss, and let him/her know that you have RA and that this is what you are dealing with. I talked to my boss when I was initially diagnosed to let him know what was going on, he was very very understanding and has allowed me to work extra hours on the days I was feeling good to make up the time. Hang in there, and know that you are not alone and that you are not the disease. _Chelle -

I have been taking this med...along with a slew of others for over 6 months. I still feel somewhat sickly ie. nausated, but tolerable. As for me, I honestly don't know if my tiredness and achy feeling is only because of Methotrexate or if it is just the nature of RA and Fibromyalga as diseases. I think for all of us the fact is, with or without certain meds, we will have good and bad days. I have had RA for 1 year now and STILL cannot "come to grips" with my "used to life" and my "new life"...but working on that almost daily.
Good luck! and I hope you have an understanding supervisor.
