The Optimistic Pessimist and living with RA   It's truely hard to look at the glass and see it as half full when it is so clearly half empty. It is truely hard to look at the sky and say what a beautiful day it is when the sky is black and it is pouring down hard. It is truely hard to say ...

Even while sharing your frustration you are a positive force in many lives, Holly.  I often review the upbeat postings on this forum and feel guilty because I haven't had a flare for six weeks, so what do I have to be pessimistic about?  You're right; we do fight.  Perhaps because we yearn for that "normal" good life and aren't willing to give it over to RA.  I'm sorry to hear that you are having such a bad long flare and am sending good vibes your way.  It's the least I can do for someone that lightens my load on a regular basis.  That you do so while you're in the pit of frustration and pain called RA makes you amazing.  Thanks!

I think this is what gives people who live with RA the resilience to keep going. We have to get out of bed despite being in so much pain that you want nothing more than to curl up under the covers and not come out until it's all over and you get out of bed anyway  That takes more strength than lifting a house. Finding a moment of joy in a day of awful takes a determination beyond that of a marathon runner. We look more fragile, but in reality, we are some of the strongest people in this world.

I just LOVE that: "lifting a house."

The reason I've never stayed in the covers until it has passed:

It has never passed/ let up.

Ah, well, might as well fight if I can't escape...

    Cool  Cool  Cool

Yep. if it's not going away, there's nothing for it.  Might as well get up and get going.
