An additional thing to be aware of - if a person who takes methotrexate develops and infection and needs to take an antibiotic, then methotrexate must be temporarily stopped until the course of antibiotics is complete. Methotrexate will interfere with the antibiotic's ability to fight the infection. If your mom has to miss 1-2 weeks of methotrexate, then not much may happen with her RA. However, at any time she experiences symptoms, then she should contact her doctors. Lisa
