Hello, Lindsay,

Pain is the body's way of telling us something is wrong, so you are right to pursue medical help. Sometimes doctors just look at the age of a person and dismiss their complaints.  So not right!  Have you seen an orthopedic doctor? That would be my first suggestion. A good orthopedic should be ablet to do testing and identify the cause of your pain.  Hip pain often radiates to the inside of the thigh and down into the knee. Have you had any xrays or an MRI on your hips?  So sorry you are in so much pain.  Almost sounds af if you have pressure on a nerve somewhere.  That can take a while to track down.  We are not doctors here, but I do suggest you make an appointmen with an orthopedic doctor.  Advocate for yourself.  Do not let him or her dimiss your symptoms. Tell him/her that you are in pain and that you need help.

Hugs,

V

None of us are doctors, but answer based on our own experience and whatever knowledge we've managed to pick up. In other words, treat our advice as suggestions for further research. as V said, pain is a sign that something is going on and your doctors not listening is just not good enough. Perhaps you need to see another doctor - I would suggest a referral to a rheumatologist. It's not that I think you have RA, but they know a lot about conditions that can cause pain in different ways, more so than your family doctor and may therefore be able to get an idea of what's going on, it eliminates possibilities and so on.

I think I need to know more about your symptoms in order to give you good advice. Does this only happen when you sleep? What if you lie down for an hour to rest? Have you tried a different mattress? Have you had x-rays of your back/hips/knees? Do you ever have symptoms during the day or doing something else? Is the pain in your muscles or joints/bones?
