Logan - I am 54 yrs old. I was diagnosed with RA when I was 7 yrs old. I had the symptoms and pain for 2 years before that but no one new exactly what was going on. I am so sorry that you are going through this. God has a good and vibrant life and plan for you. I believe you will get to experience that. Over the many years I have done many different things. Some have helped and others not so much. I do believe that each person has "triggers" that help contribute to making RA worse. Stress and not being patient or forgiving of myself are my triggers.I can tell you what worked best for me. There are times when I had my joints drained and had cortizone shots into the joints. This gave me immediate relief. Steroids gave immediate but short term relief. Methotrexate relief but took a while. The one thing that gave me a 12 year remission was changing my diet. I changed to a vegan diet which consisted of lots of fruits and veggies, nuts, seeds and very little grains, sugars, etc. The change was so amazing that the doctors questioned if I ever had RA. I will tell you that after 1 year of going back to the typical American diet my RA has returned. I am now in the process of trying to undo all the stupid eating I have done. I believe this is the best method as it gets rid of the toxins in your body and lowers all inflammation in the body. As far as supplements I def take fish oil, 4 a day and I have started to take Zyflamend" from NewChapter which is a natural supplement that is supposed to help with RA. I don't know yet if it is effective but for me it is worth the try in addition to my diet. Warm baths or shower, moderate rest but small increments of motion exercise of affected areas motrin/alleve to help with moderate pain. Lastly, Logan, DO NOT GIVE UP OR BE DISCOURAGED! There are definitely brighter days on the horizon. RA does not have to control your entire lifetime. I will be praying for you. - Ms. Laurie
