Does anyone know if cysts on wrists can be related to RA?  I have one on my left wrist that has been there for a while, but is starting to grow.  I'm not too worried, but wondered if it was related to RA at all?

It could possibly be a nodule..?? I have them, they are from the RA.

Could def be a nodule. I have a Baker's Cyst on the back of my knee, which is from RA but it hasn't changed in size. My mom has had a cyst on her wrist all her life, had it removed once when it was affecting her hand's mobility (size of a nickel), but she does not have RA.

No, I'm sorry---I didn't mean to imply that Baker's cysts are found other places than the knee. I was just sharing that I have a Baker's cyst which is known to be caused by RA (or a serious sports injury) and maybe that could also be the case with cysts found elsewhere on the body. I do know that some people are more prone to cysts than others, but that def doesn't mean they have RA...like in my mom's case. Sorry!

Thank you all for your input.  It isn't sore at all and I only wondered since I  noticed that it is a little bigger than it was a couple of weeks ago.  I will mention it to my Rheumy when I go in again.

Thanks!Laughing

Hi Laura: I have cysts on my wrists. I had the left-hand one surgically removed and it lasted about 12 years and then returned. It is a ganglion cyst to be more precise. I do have RA, but the other lumps I have are not cysts, they are called nodules. I don't know if the cysts are related to the RA, ganglions usually occur with injury to the wrist, even just hitting it agains something hard could start it growing as mine did. I have also received aspiration, and injection treatments for the cysts until I had to have surgery. Sincere good wishes...MM

Thank you. I don't know if this is Ganglion, Bakers or just a plain ole nodule? It doesn't bother me at all, but I am curious about it. Thanks!
