Question About Blood Work

Carol
10/11/08

My doctor just diagnoised me to RA yesterday. I have seen him twice now. He got my blood work back from the lab and called me right in. He said he normaly does not diagnoise from blood work alone but made a exception with me. When he seen me last my symptom where masked by the Prednisone that my oher doctor put me on. I hardly had any swelling. I am sore in my finger, wrist, elbow, shoulders, neck, hips, knees, ankels, and feet. One toe is deformed and over laps the other toe. My feet feel numb and painful when I walk. I have even had my heart muscle hurt and burning eyes. My muscle tone is gone and I am a weakling now.

I don't know how to interpet the blood work. He says it is very high but how bad am I? My Rheumatoid Factor-Quant was 247.0H. Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide (CCP) >190. CRP was 1.5.

The higher the numbers the more inflammation you have.

I was also diagnoised yesterday.  My doc told me the a normal RF Factor was <10, and normal CCP is 0 - 20.  Mine RF was 118 and my CCP was >60 (he said his lab only shows up to >60, becasue anything above that is concidered sever and treated as such.)  He said this along with the current joint issues I having led him to belive that I have active RA.
