I would suggest that you find a Dr. who will treat you aggressively and wholistically. The Rheumatologist is concerned with giving you a quality of life. They want you to be able to work and wash the car and hold the baby. It is felt that you may not be able to do that if you take supplements. The Rhuematologist wants to stop damage to your joints. They feel the drugs that suppress your immune system is the best way to go. You may want to do the medication until you can sort your way through the maze of info on herbs and supplements.
I do get flairs and I do cry and I have some bad days. I have to watch my diet and will react to food and have to elimate any food that causes a reaction. Books to read Autoimmune Epidemic, Eat to Live by Joel Fuhrman. You can find him on Utube. After reading the book Autoimmune Epidemic, I decided I will do my medical check-up with traditional M.D. And I will then see a Pathologist who teaches at a major university and treat patients using alternative medicine.
googling - Pain Free Rheumatoid. Remissions Rheumatoid. may be helpful.
Conclusion: Best done with guidance if you want to go alternative route. Try to find an M.D. who will treat you alternatively. Check in Health food store or magazine called Alternative Health publishes a book on Arthritis. Gary Null's books have physicians listed in back of book as resources.
