Hello, and welcome to Health Central.  This is really an interesting question.  A lot of people with RA have a mildly elevated temperature when their RA is active.  A temp over 100.4 degrees is considered a true fever and  can represent infections.  What does your rheumatologist say?  Is your blood work normal?  Do you feel bad when you have a fever...get chills?

Peace,

V

Hello. Thanks for your reply. My blood work regarding infection screening is repeatedly normal. CRP and ESR remains high. My rheumatologist adviced me to take complete rest and to go for RITUXIMAB. When temperature starts rising i feel uncomfortable, weak and ya it is associated with chills but not rigor. I dont feel like doing anything. What shall i do?

Hi, Neeshu,

None of us here are doctors.   I can tell you what I would do, though, and that is seek a second opinion. Have you had a Urinalysis recently?  I used to get UTI's and my blood work was normal.  I didn't feel well...was tired, slight fever, etc, but that was it.  The UA showed the infection, though, and it was a bad one that kept coming back. If my doc had not ordered the UA, I don't know what would have happened. Please seek a second opinion, and let us know how you are doing.  Personally, I think the fever you are running is a bit hight to be due solely from RA.  I guess it could be, but better safe than sorry!

Peace,

V
