Treat the symptoms by cool foot soaks, compression hose (yes they are hard to get used to but really do help) gel inserts, and bigger shoes. What does your doc say?

Sometimes prednisone can cause you to retain salt and fluids. If that is you, try to limit the ecxess salty choices of food available to you. Instead of potato chips, go for some unsalted crackers, or better yet, go for a banana. Bananas will help to replinish potasium, which also may be depleted with the use of prednisone. With your doctors permission, try a potassium supplement, never going over the rda..which isnt hard since every pill is only about 3 percent total value. Potassium should also help you maintain healthy blood pressure levels, which the prednisone could be contributing to as well. An added benefit of the potassium, it helps the spasms and your walking, by replacing some of what the prednisone is taking from you. Walking is so important to keep your circulation going. By doing all of the above, perhaps you could cut down on some of that swelling, reduce pain all in all, maintain normal blood pressure levels, reduce your risks of secondary maloccurences such as stroke, (from inactivity), weight gain, secondary infections, (such as pneumonia), etc, as well as build up some good old endorphins which will not only make you feel good, but perhaps put you back into that pendelum of motion that your body will use to really give you some healing! Step one, go to your doctor, get bp and swelling checked out, ask about supplementaion, (don't go crazy on that however), make sure you're also getting enough calcium WITH vitamin D added to it at same time to help absorb that calcium, and first, middle, and last always..lots of prayer! Yes prayers work! God bless you and you will remain in my prayers! Reply
