Tuesday, October 13, 2009 Mary Jacobsen asks

Q: I would like to hear some good tips on managing the meds. Ive been using a weekly pill box, but

still manage to mess it up.  So, your suggestions would be helpful.  I should mention that I am not into putting it on my calendar that I carry with me, just messes it up for keeping track of my clients and other matters and I do not want to carry two calendars all the time.

Mary,

I use small containers that screw together bottom to top. My wife helps me sort the pills into Morning, Afternoon and Evening containers, then she screws them all together and calls in refills. Wehn we are done I have at least a weeks worth of pills all sorted and ready to go. Works well for me!

I like Brad's answer, I suggest getting a wife!  All joking aside, the pharmacist could put them into a bubble pack for you.  I think I am going to go this route because I get confused and sometimes forget that I took them or forget to take them.  I saw a very funny commercial once where the husband was asking his wife at dinner time what each colored pill was for and when he got to the green one she said that is a pea.

Hope this info is helpful

Oh, that is too funny!  Feel's like that at timesKiss.  But I like the bubble pack idea the best, in partictular for traveling.  Thanks.

you should take them with a meal or incorporate them into your bedtime ritual.  I also use a pill box and seperate my pills into morning and evning.  I take the morning with my breakfast and at night when I brush my teeth and wash my face.  I also keep them out where I can see them, but the kids can't get to them.  It will get easier as time goes by.

Check out the MEd-Q Pillbox.  It organizes, alerts, reminds and dispenses at the time you set.  It cost less than 40 dollars but has made forgetting impssible.  It is a technologocal breakthrough.  Go to MEDQPILLBOX.com and you'll see what i mean
