Diagnosed June 2008, apparently i haven't found the right medication...

Monday, July 20, 2009

I'm not sure about Humira but I've been taking Enbrel for 8 weeks (took my 8th shot this morning) and I feel better.  I'm really not sure if it's the Enbrel that's making me feel better or the fact that I stopped taking Methotrexate.  The Methotrexate just sucked the life out of me.  I still hurt daily, but it's about a 1-2 on a scale of 1-10, I can live with this.  What I don't understand though is the burning sensation I have in my joints (I've had this since I was diagnosed in June 2008).  I still take 1,000 mg of Naproxyn, my rheumatologist took me off the 2,000 mg daily sulfasalazine this month and methotrexate last month.  We'll just have to wait and see how it goes.  Good luck with your treatment and I hope you find relief from the Humira soon.

God Bless!!

I have been taking humaira for a few months and it didnt help so I got off of it and I am better now then when I was on it.  And I had an allergic reaction on my legs from it.  My skin was peeling and breaking open.  I wish my medical hadne been cut off because the Remicade was helping me but also had allergic reactions from it also.

I started Humira 7/28/09. Some days it seems like the Humira is helping already. However, I have been having daily headaches since starting treatment and nausea for the next 36hrs after injection. I also take plaquenil twice a day and Ultram ER as needed. I am hopeful that Humira will help and side effects diminish with time. Good luck with your treatment!

Hi,

I will take my 3rd Humira shot today, hasn't kicked in for me yet, I have read that it can take many shots to start working. Anywhere from the first to up to 5 months later. It is different with everyone. I take Arava as teh chemo alt to Metho. Hope it kicks in for both of us soon.

It took about 2 months for it to really kick in for me, but then it continued to help me improve after that.

I could tell a difference within 2 weeks, but it got better for a couple of months more. Then plateaued. Not a cure. But, my vote is it is a good drug.
