Married 22yrs. 3 children- 12, 9 and 3. Two great danes.

I am a 40yr old woman. Hysterectomy 5/07 and take hormone replacement. I have hypothyroid and take .125mg of Levoxyl daily. I also have Alopecia Universalis for 15yrs.

Started having symptoms of joint stiffness in feet, low back and also leg achs in my calfs (like I had the flu) in May of 08. PCP did blood work and SED rate came back at 32 . Also showed anemia but iron is good and b12 is good.

PCP suggested seeing neurologist to get MRI done of low back. Had MRI done on entire spine, indicated spine is fine. Neurologist did an EMG test and the results were negative but put me on Lyrica to see if it was nerve pain, stopped taking it because it didn't help.

Blood work done again, still anemic, w/b12 and iron fine but SED rate still @ 32, this is 2 months apart now. Dr says need to get colonoscopy done to make sure not leaking blood internally. Just had that done last wk, GI doc said no sign of bleeding, did find a polyp and was removed.

Since I first saw my PCP in May, I now have tingling in my toes on both feet and after sleeping and resting, my feet are very sore to walk on. Both elbows are sore and can't keep them in one position. Both of my hands feel "puffy" or tight, but don't seem swollen. Joints in my fingers in both hands hurt on and off. Seems like I have to keep everything moving or these mentioned joints just stiffen up.

I really have not been sleeping very well. The pain makes it hard to fall alseep and then can't stay in bed too long because these areas hurt. I started taking 1 Tylenol PM 2wks ago, that has helped w/falling to sleep.

I have made an appt with a rheumatologist, but that is not until September 18th. My PCP said the next test, as far as the anemia, is to get my bone marrow checked to see if it is producing like it should. I would rather wait on that until I see the rheumatologist. As far as the pain and stiffness, he said probably need to see the Rheumatologist.

I am wondering what you might think as far as these symptoms being related to RA.

Hi, when i orignally went to my dr it was because I had pain in my feet, stiffness and swelling in my hands as well as being fatigued a lot.  I had already suspected RA since my mom has had it for 20 years and i'm quite aware of the sypmtoms.  If you can't wait till your Sept appointment, i would suggest asking your regular dr to run a blood test to check to see if you have the Rhumetoid factor and your ANA levels.  Hope this helps.

Those symptoms sound exactly like what I had before I was dx with RA. I'd definitely recommend getting a RA test.
