Q: Odd feeling feet

I've been reading the posts from people with RA and it's good to know I'm not the only one with all the problems that complicate our lives.  I have both OA and RA, plus had to have both hips replaced.  My question is:  does anyone have the odd foot problem I do where the bottom of the feet feel almost like there is a pad of some sort. I have some hammer-toes now but they don't hurt necessarily, but that odd feeling on the soles sort of tingles and feels ever so strange. Do any of you experience this too??    ella

I get this feeling off and on -- last time, I asked my wife to take a look and it appears that the ball of my foot was swollen (it was also bright "RA" red).  I'm also very sensitive to stupid things like the seam of my socks :)

Thanks for answering.  My feet are also sensitive to anything that touches them, like a seam in socks or even shoes and the very skin can't stand even a sheet on them when I'm in bed sometimes.

I can't believe that you've experienced this too. A few weeks ago my left heal felt like it went to sleep/cold and numb and no matter what I did (feet  in a hot tub) didn't help much.  It comes and goes. A few years ago I developed Neuropathy in my legs and hands.  This comes and goes too. I found out that I was low in B-12 and started shots. I also took more magnesium and potassium vitamins. This did help.

I went to my RA doc the other day and he said that since it was just one foot with the heal numbness that it may be a pinched nerve and not systemic and may need to see a neurologist. I don't want more meds so I'm trying to heal with nutrition and a more natural approach.

If you find something that works, let me know.

Odd feeling feet, I've experienced that.  I went to a foot doctor and was treated for the Nuroma. After taking five treatments (injections) I've been doing good and no more feeling like I have foot pads.

Oh, thank you for your reply.  I just made an appointment to see my podiatrist and go in next week.  My RA doctor always just says it has to do with fat that went onto the soles but never said what one could do about it.  Fat???  I'm a little overweight but not horribly fat but she talked like it was just something that happens with RA.
