I would not work on the flexing of your finger until the finger has recovered from the surgery.  As far as the cream for your scar, you can give you doctors office a call and ask to speak to the nurse.  He/she should be able to find out from the doctor if it is okay to apply the cream or how long he would like you to wait.  If you are having redness and swelling around the operative site you will want to make another appointment as soon as possible with your doctor to rule out a post-op infection.  I wish you the best of luck!  Good luck and best wishes!
