Q: Rheumatoid Arthritis and health insurance

I had to quit work in June 2008, due to RA. At this present time I have Cobra insurance, which is $378 a month. I take Enbrel, plus 2 other RA medications. Have anyone found health insurance, which have a good prescription plan? The monthly payment is too much.

Hi Sophia,

You may find this website to be helpful: http://www.rheumatology.org/public/acrast.asp. It is a list of links to patient assistance programs for RA medications. I know Enbrel is extremely expensive. If you qualify for the patient assistance program, you may be able to receive the medication for free for a period of time. Your other medications may also have patient assistance programs that could help you.

Best of luck,

Casey
