I was doing fairly well on my MTX but my shoulder was killing me. My rheumy had given me a cortisone shot to no avail, then a prednisone taper, wow, soooo much better! All my joints felt good! And my shoulder felt pretty good. After the taper I had about two weeks of feeling pretty good. Then the shoulder just went down hill and suddenly everything started to flare. My hands and wrists, my knees and feet and ankles and that dang shoulder doesn't work at all! Okay, I'm just whining. Is my MTX not working?

When you're hurting like that, it's not working. It's probably time to add another medicine.
