I have found that I have lost most of my "old, so called friends" along with my "old life".  I cant's drink alcoholic beverages anymore since I am taking Methotrexate, and I think my old friends see me as "boring" maybe.  I really don't have anything in common with them any more, really.  They all have spouses, kids and a social life.

I am single, have no children and have withdrawn quite a bit since my RA diagnosis.  I'd really like to meet some people that I have RA in common with.  I think that it would be nice to be around a group of people who understand RA.  When I told some of my friends that I had RA, they all immediatly started showing me small bumps on their fingers and saying that they have arthritus too!

I need to get out of my "cave" and stop "hermiting up"!!!Embarassed

Check around and see if your RA doctor knows of any support groups for RA patients. Maybe you could start one by putting an ad in the newspaper. I found some people at church who have RA and we support each other. Ask around your doctor's office. Maybe some of the other RA patients know of some groups for you.
